How to wear a sticky bra so it stays on
A sticky bra that falls off is almost never a bad bra. It is a bra put on wrong, or put on skin that was not ready for it. Here is the order that works, why each step matters, and what to do when it still will not hold.
Before you start
Skin has to be clean, dry and bare. No moisturizer, no body oil, no deodorant that reached the chest, no perfume, no fake tan still setting. If you showered, wait ten minutes so the skin is fully dry and cool. This one step is the difference between a bra that lasts a wedding and one that is off by the first course.
Step 1. Open the clasp
Undo the front clasp before you touch the cups. The cups go on separately, then the clasp closes them. Trying to place a clasped bra puts both cups on at once and neither ends up where you want it.
Step 2. Peel from the edge
Peel the protective film from one edge, never from the middle. Pulling from the middle stretches the adhesive and leaves a dull patch that will not grip as well again. Keep the film; it goes back on the cup after every wear.
Step 3. Place the cup low and wide
Hold the cup by its edge, adhesive facing you. Set the bottom of the cup against the underside of the breast first, a little lower and a little further out than you think it should be. Then fold the cup up and over. Placing it low is what gives lift when the clasp closes; placing it high gives coverage and no shape.
Step 4. Press and hold
Flat palm, press from the outside edge toward the center, ten seconds. Do the same on the other side. Body heat is what sets the adhesive, so this is the step people rush and should not.
Step 5. Clasp last
Bring the two cups toward the center and close the clasp. Tighter for more cleavage, looser for a natural line. If closing the clasp lifts a cup edge away from the skin, the cups were placed too far apart; take them off and start again a finger closer.
Step 6. Check in the mirror before the dress
Both cups even, both edges flat, clasp centered. Adjust now, not through a neckline.
Why it still will not stick
Skin oil. Even with nothing applied, some skin is oily. Wipe the chest with a damp cloth and let it dry, or use a little witch hazel on a cotton pad.
Old residue on the cup. Dust, lint and skin oil kill the grip. Wash it: warm water, a drop of mild soap, fingertips only, air dry adhesive side up on the film. Nine times out of ten this brings a cup back.
Wrong size. A cup that is too big has edges that do not meet skin, and edges are where a bra lets go. Sticky bras are sized by cup, not band, and if you sit between two sizes the smaller one holds better. The size guide converts.
Heat. Sweat is fine; the adhesive is sweat and water resistant. What fails in heat is a cup that was placed on damp skin. Dry, then place.
The Invisible Bra, The Sticky Bra, The Statement Bra
All three go on the same way. The Invisible Bra is thin and made to disappear. The Sticky Bra has padding at the base for push-up, so place it a touch lower still. The Statement Bra is the same build in six colors. For more lift than a bra alone gives, put The Sculpt on first and the bra over it.
Taking it off
Open the clasp. Peel each cup slowly from the outer edge inward. Never pull it straight off; that is what hurts and what damages the adhesive. If it is stubborn, warm water in the shower loosens it in seconds.
After every wear
Wash, air dry adhesive side up, back on the film. Stored this way a bra lasts up to 50 wears. Never a towel, never a hairdryer, never face down on a dresser. The full routine is on How to clean a sticky bra.
When not to wear one
Not intended for sensitive or thin skin, or for anyone pregnant or breastfeeding. If the skin reacts, take it off and stop.
